Patriots cancel practice after another positive COVID-19 test
The New England Patriots are again regrouping due to the ongoing pandemic.
Another Patriots player has tested positive for COVID-19, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Mike Giardi reported, per a source informed of the situation. A second person within the organization has also tested positive for COVID-19, and is awaiting results of re-tests to confirm, Pelissero added.
New England canceled Friday's practice and media availability.
The Patriots conducted meetings virtually Friday following the cancellations.
New England is preparing to face Denver in a game that was rescheduled from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening in Week 5, and subsequently postponed to Week 6 because of COVID-19 concerns related to the positive tests of cornerback Stephon Gilmore and one additional Patriots player, which came nearly a week apart.
The new positive test arrives one day after Cam Newton -- New England's quarterback and first confirmed positive of the 2020 season -- returned to practice Thursday after testing positive near the beginning of October. Newton missed New England's Week 4 game against Kansas City, after which Gilmore also tested positive for COVID-19.
Gilmore returned to the team as well on Thursday for the Patriots' preparations to face Denver.
